Brits 2013 – Slopestyle

Unfortunately the weather was terrible all week, with heavy snow and low visibility. However that didn’t stop us riding and with an adapted course we dropped in for slope-style practice. The course consisted a single kicker and four different rail options. The weather was limiting everyone’s performance so putting a run down was the only thing on everyone’s mind. I was lucky enough to put down a bs 7 and bs 9 in the qualifiers sending me through to the finals. Shack also stuck a bs 7 melon and joined me in the finals.

In finals practice I over shot the kicker on a Cab 7 Nose and ended up busting my leg. I sat out for the rest of practice and watch the women compete. I made my way to the top of the course, waiting to drop. I managed to put down a bs 9 not as clean as I would have liked and put together an solid run.

I tried for the Cab 7 again to try and push myself into medal contention, I went far too deep on the landing and was unable to hold it. I finished up 2nd in Youth men which I was stoked on and grabbed 5th place overall. Considering my injury I was happy to get some good results, hopefully next year I will be injury free and able to perform to the best of my ability. Everyone throw down even in the poor conditions which was great to see!

Brits 2013 – Bangers & Cash

Tignes, France was set to be the new destination for the Brits, and it didn’t disappoint! The new Bangers & Cash Rail Jam lived up to it’s expectations and it was an amazing event. The Rail Garden set-up was awesome and with the competition broken down into three stages in which riders could qualify for the finals, allowed riders the chance to show the skills on a number of different features.

I was lucky enough to make through on the first stage with a half-cab to frontflip out of the cannon rail, half-cab to bs 3 and a fs 270 gap on the double kink box. I was really happy with my riding and it gave me the chance to plan out my tricks for the finals.

The finals came round soon enough and I was excited to get going. My leg injury had been playing up which caused a few problems but I carried on regardless. I had a few ideas for the wallride feature and I was stoked to get a chuck flip into the wallride and was so close to my cab underflip. The level was insane! Nuddsy, George Scott and Lewis Sonvico were killing it with inovative tricks and massive gaps.

In the end Andy Nudds took the win with a ridiculous combo, wallride 270 to the down box 270 off. I was super stoked to take 3rd place and come away with a medal. It was a great start to the Brits and everyone was stoked on the event. Hopefully see more of the same event next year.

Epic Powder

The best powder I have ever ridden! Two epic days shredding with Henry, Ollie and the Pleisure Holidays staff, showing us all the best spots!

Footage and photos so will make sure to post them up! It stayed really cold today which made the powder fluffy and light so much fun, totally got me stoked on snowboarding!

Hoping for sun tomorrow and maybe some park…planning on a week or two in Hoff before World Juniors in March so will keep the blog updated with our plans!

Powder Days!

Past two days have been epic! The rain turned to snow and it has been snowing for a day or two! Had some awesome tree runs and found some small shutes! Got loads of footage and loads of bails so we are planning on putting a wee edit together for the Parklife Series! Make sure you check out the Facebook page and Twitter page for updates!

Henry Shackleton loving the powder day in Courch!

Website is nearly done and once it’s finished the first episode will be released!

Planning on a trip to Flachauwinkl to train with Kinnear and Matt for 5 days on 9th. Hopefully we will get the chance to learn some new doubles and ride the kicker line over there. Looking forward to it!

Val Thorens Filming

Stoked on our filming yesterday in the Val Thorens snow park! Loads folk out riding as well as the french team that I recognised from world juniors.

Although it was a bit windy, we got a session on the last kicker! Henry got bs rodeo, bs 7 and fs 10 all first try! I stomped my bs 7 and got a bolts double frontflip for the first parklife edit!

Hopefully the weather will be good later towards the weekend so we can get more footage like that!

Val Thorens

Had an amazing day yesterday in the VT park! Took us a wee while to get there but was totally worth it! The kicker line there is so sick! 3 good size kickers and a sick rail set-up at the bottom!

Great to see the park crew out building and shaping as well! There is an awesome scene too with loads of kids shredding and freestyle coaching.

Was stoked to find out there is a slopestyle competition there next weekend so defibitely going to get involved with that!

Piecing together a run already, got bs 7 into double front and also a couple of underflips and bs 12s. Looking forward to heading back there tomorrow and getting some tricks for the comp.

Exploring

Today we made the journey over to Meribel and Val Thorens! It was great to explore the resorts and we got an awesome session in the DC Park in Mottaret. The kicker looks nice over there, steep and lofty…although with the wind we decided to give it a miss, wax the boards and get over there early doors tomorrow. As the wind picked up we returned to the Family Park back in Courch.

Second lap in, Lewis got taken out on the piste! Turned to hear a shout and Lewis was on the deck with some guys board straight into his leg! He had a massive chunk out of his shin and is heading an hour down the valley to the hospital. So gutted for him! Especially as BEO is coming up soon. Fingers-crossed all is okay and he is back on his board soon.

We finished the day with some kicker laps and I was stoked to get Fs under 7 and a load of cab under 5s. Planning on some new tricks tomorrow in DC! Watch this space!
