I recently returned from a training camp in Mayerhofen, Austria with the National Academy athletes and our coaches Neil MacGrain & Ben Kinnear. It was a sick two weeks with perfect conditions for 10 out 13 days riding. The park was pristine every morning and softened gradually and with a 3 minute lap it was perfect for learning new tricks. I went back to basics instead of trying to push and hit the pro line, working mainly on rails and my take offs/landings on the medium kickers. It is such a sick resort and I can’t wait to get out there more often next season.
On Saturday (22/03/14) it was the Scottish Champs on Cairngorm. I was super keen to get riding at home again and catch up with everyone. The park was sick but the weather closed in and it was pretty windy so they made the call just to ride rails. A 2 run qualifying round saw 10 men into the 3 run final, I managed to secure a spot with a bs 3 off the cannon and a fs 180 switch up on the down flat down rail – it seemed judges were looking for execution over difficulty which suited my run better…I was joined in the final by Matt McCormick, Sam McGrath, Billy Cockrell, Stu Innes and local lad Cammy McLellended, who was stoked on making his first final.
I bailed out on my first 2 runs with Matt setting a pretty high standard with a bs 5 off the cannon and a cab board 270 out on the up box it looked like he had it already. On my last run I went for the same safety run I did in the qualies, Stu bailed out and Sam put down a clean run so it was quite tight for 2nd and 3rd place. I was super stoked when I was called up to collect a silver medal in the open category and 2nd overall which has been my best result all season.

With Vans Hi Standard and some other comps coming up on Cairngorm spring can’t come soon enough.
After a good few weeks of training the Zillertal Valley Rally came to Hoff for the final stop of the tour! The slopestyle course was held on the advanced line with a rail feature at the top and two kickers. Although not big in size the jumps made for a good contest and I was stoked that the sun came out for the Men’s runs!
I stomped my run and cleaned it up second time round to take 1st place, and Best Trick with Switch Backside 9! So stoked to get a result and I’m really looking forward to a busy March riding contests and filming! It was an amazing tour and will definitely be taking part in more of the Aesthetiker events in the future!
At the beginning of the month we were lucky enough to get an invite to a QParks Shoot in Solden! It was a great opportunity and a fun trip, lots of good photos and the edit is looking pretty sick so far! Stoked with the shots I got, pro line was wack but made the most of the other features in the park and the full video should be dropping anytime soon! Hopefully going to link up with the guys when they return to Hoff and film some more!
Full article, photo gallery and more are all up on the QParks and Solden Park websites!
February brought good weather to Hoff and I was stoked to finally get on the Pro kickers and get working on bigger tricks for up and coming competitions!
It was awesome to finally put down a Cab Double Cork and so stoked to get a banging follow cam of the trick! As trick progression is my main focus for the season, it was really good to tick off a trick that was part of my year plan I had built with my coach. Hoping to learn a load more tricks before the season’s over and Penken Park is certainly the place to do it!
Having an awesome season so far, progressive and definitely a great place to based!
Lots of footage and photos, plenty of edit to come from our crew out here!
Last weekend myself and Jesse headed down the road to a local resort Zillertal Arena to take part in the Zillertal Valley Rally!
The weather cleared up for the comp day and even with lots of fresh snow they were able to put together a fun wee course! Flat down box into a good sized medium jump! After missing a bus and a train we finally made it to the contest and had just enough time to put down one practice run in which we both overshot the kicker to the flat, somehow rode away, must have been that fresh snow fall!

We got the laps in while Kids and Ladies took to the course! Had no idea what to do for my runs and I ended up sticking a Backside 5 as well as a Cab 7 and Cab 9 both off the toes! Stoked to stomp all my runs, and had good rail tricks to go with those so pretty confident with my performance! Finished up in 6th behind fellow GB Team mate Rowan Coultas, bit gutted to miss out on podium at this stop but with one in Hoff on 22nd February I am aiming for a good finish!

Currently I’m sitting in 5th for the Tour ranking so will hopefully get to push up fingers crossed!
Being in the Zillertal Valley with a Tirol Card definitely has its advantages! A few days ago we hoped on the Zillertalbahn and went on down to Kaltenbach. The park is supposed to have one of the best kickers in the valley and we weren’t disappointed! With the Penken Park chairlift broken for the day we made the most of the sunny conditions and Kaltenbach kicker! Stoked to get some good airtime and I was stoked to stomp my first Frontside 1080 of the season!
Definitely be back here sometime this season! Hoff Pro Line is finished, so praying for the sun now!
Ended the day in Kaltenbach with a cheeky rail lap on my iON Air Pro 3!
The park is amazing, its been snowing loads and amped to be with such a good and productive group of dudes!
We’ve been filming loads and working on tonnes of tricks! Great to be riding everyday and get my feet back in the Euro parks! Parklife Series page is back up and running, edits, photos and content coming all season long!

There’s loads planned already for the rest of the winter, going to be a good one!
We stuck together a funny wee edit already! Shredding the pistes and side-hits!
Just before Christmas I went over to Aberdeen for a few days to attend the level 1 freestyle course held by our coach Ben Kinnear. It was a super fun course with quite a small group of people I knew from riding around the country and we were all about the same level of riding so it flowed really well. I got to understand the basics of coaching and built up to planning and running a specific session for the rest of the group. I am super stoked to pass and can’t wait to start doing some shadowing with the Cairngorm Snowboard Club.
Here is a shot of me during Kris Bells session on ollie’s:
Never thought I would say it, Cairngorm has got a halfpipe! Heard rumours of one being built back in the day but recently they unveiled the pipe dragon and started cutting!
We came across it on the first day of training with the Cairngorm Snowboard Club and it was pretty damn good! Kids loved it and I managed to learn Haakons in the bottom of the pipe! Stoked on the new feature for the park and hopefully it’ll get bigger as the season goes on! Great to have some transition on the mountain and the pipe will help catch snow for the kickers down on the Ptarmigan! Looking forward to the end of the season and a slushy day with everyone chucking it in the new stunt ditch!
Gorm’ is a go! The Cas park is looking good with four features and hopefully more to follow soon! Myself, Andrew, Kerzo and the lads put the finishing touches on the park yesterday and had an awesome shred as well! Slushy, spring conditions lower down with a freeze-thaw cycle made for good snow and easy building! The park is coming together nicely and we have been getting quite a bit of footage to use as well!
Angus, Andrew and myself have a new TSA Team edit in the works which will drop end of January! Make sure you’ve up there and make the most of the early park and good cover!
