Had a rad trip down to Milton Keynes to meet up with the CLWR team a couple of weeks ago. We had a photo shoot and filming session in the dome, got lots of sick shots, cant wait to see how they turn out!

Content to drop next month so keep an eye out!

Solden – Injury

During our last week in Hoff we were invited to take part in a QParks Sunrise Shoot in Solden. They’d built a huge 28 metre booter up on the Glacier. The session started well and I made the jump perfect, second run in I tried a backside 7 and just didnt have the speed. Unfortunately I picked up an injury to my left leg and right heel. With a gnarly back wind and powdery conditions the session stopped shortly after with a few serious bails.

I had to return home early and luckily got seen by doctors, physio and managed to get my MRI scan through only three days after the incident. That wouldnt have been possible without the help of the Scottish Institute of Sport and Sport Scotland so I am incredibly thankful to have them backing me and supporting my snowboarding.

I am now making good progress with my recovery, off my crutches and hope to be back training in the gym by the start June. I’m determined to work hard to get back to full fitness and back on my board as soon as possible!

Snowbombing – GB Training

After spending a few days back home shredding Cairngorm I returned to Mayrhofen for the last few weeks of the season and to take part in the Snowbombing Festival, riding in the contest, shooting and filming! It was a sick few days with all the GB Team and great to be back in Austria. I got the chance to take my Level 1 Freestyle Snowboard Coach course with my team mates and it was great to learn more about coaching and to get a qualification too. This will allow me to coach with the local Cairngorm Snowboard Club when I’m back on Cairngorm Mountain and help out all the little up and coming shredders!

Go few clips in the Cooler Mag edit from the week!

Vans Hi-Standard Cairngorm

I left the Brits and flew straight back to Scotland for the Vans Hi-Standard stop at my local mountain Cairngorm. The plane was full with a whole crew from the Brits returning for the comp! The weather was horrible at first and we did our best for the rail jam, luckily we were blessed with the sun for the kicker jam and it went off! So good to ride with Vans UK lads again and all my mates from back home, everyone killed it.

Vns Hi Standard

I was so stoked to finish 1st overall and it was an amazing way to end an unbelievably successful week for me!

The after party went off as usual and was awesome to spend the net few days at home shredding Shack before we traveled back to Europe! Thanks to Vans for another great comp in Scotland, looking forward to next year!

British Champs – Tignes, France

From our stay in Courchevel we drove to Tignes for four days to compete in the British Champs! After last years disappointing weather we weren’t sure what to expect and lucky Tignes delivered! Spring conditions and blue skies for the majority of the week made the contest amazing for the riders and spectators!

The Monster Bangers and Cash rail jam was the first event of the week. Setup was amazing and the progressive format allowed us to push the level of riding on all features. I was stoked to make finals and take 1st place and £1000 prize money! By far my best result of the season and I had a great session with Henry and Lewis all of us doing new tricks!

Halfpipe came later in the week and with the Tignes X Games pipe, it was going to be a sick contest! Having had a few days to get my pipe legs back over in Meribel before hand, I was feeling quite confident. I qualified in 5th to finals and was over the moon to put down my run and take 3rd place! Didn’t expect it at all, being my only week in pipe that season and stoked for Lewis who took the top spot!

Slopestyle fell on the final day of contest and unfortunately it brought the bad weather, with strong headwind, icy conditions and flat light. The jumps were sketchy so putting down a clean run was a priority. I landed my first run which I was stoked on, and that took me all the way to the top of the podium again! I was buzzing to have had such a good week and become British Slopestyle Champion!

Courchevel-Meribel with Pleisure Holidays

Myself and Henry traveled from Mayrhofen across Europe to the French Alps to take part in the British Champs in Tignes! We began early and after a long days travel ended up in Courchevel where we stayed for a couple days to train i the DC Area 43 park in Meribel and ride with Lewis and friends from our last season with the Pleisure Holidays gang!

It was an awesome few days and great to be back there after a season in Hoff! Awesome accom, food and the park and pipe were in amazing condition. We timed it perfectly with the weather and were able to get a sick session in the half pipe working on tricks for the following week in Tignes!

Vans Team in the Hoff!

The Vans Hi-Stadard Series had its first stop at the Mayrhofen Vans Penken Park in March! It was amazing sunny weather and slushy conditions which made for an epic contest! We were treated to a Team dinner with all the Euro teams and was great to hang out with those guys and good to see my UK team members as well!

I had an awesome time in the contest and came away 120 euros richer!  I landed all my kicker tricks and managed to put down my boardslide frontflip and a lots of other tricks in the rail jam! Stoked for Row taking the win and a great few days with the lads! JP from the Shapers blog made a wee edit from the days we had, side hits and fun park laps, check it out!

GB Training March – Mayrhofen

After cracking my rib at the Kaunertal Street vs Snow I flew home for a couple weeks to rest and recover from the injury. It was a great time to catch up with my strength and conditioning coach from the Scottish Institute of Sport and see my GB Team physio to get a few sessions fixing up the rib and a few other niggling injuries. With Henry and Jesse both injured too, we all headed home for a needed rest up before a busy spring contest schedule!

I met up with my head coach Hamish McKnight in Edinburgh and started the drive out, it was awesome to have all the team back together after the Olympics and made for a rad trip! We had some pretty dodgy weather and loads of epic powder days which was an amazing break for constant park riding! we made the most of the slushy conditions as the month went on and I was stoked to learn a new trick – backside boardslide frontflip out – a trick I’d been talking about with my coach for a while.

Kaunertal Street vs Snow

I was stoked to get asked to ride in the Street vs Snow contest in Kaunertal! Competing as part of the Vans team with Rowan was a great experience. The set-up was rad and with a live-stream via Method Mag the pressure was on. The contest was split into team battles, each rider had 5 runs all scores were added together and the team with the most points qualified to the next round. Unfortunately I cracked my rib in practice the day before the contest and had power on through. We had one of the highest scoring battles and we missed out by one point on moving to quarter finals! It was dissapointing but great to be a part of. I hope we can go back one day for some redemption!
