Saas Fee Summary

“I went out to Saas Fee for a training camp with the GB junior snowboard team in July. We were mainly focusing on freestyle but worked thoroughly on technical aspects of riding and strength and conditioning of the mountain.

We made performance plans of goals we wanted to achieve. In the first week my main interest was half pipe, which I progressed on quite well as it being only the second time I have ridden it. I managed to land consistent FS and BS 5’s and also a FS 7.

On jumps I wanted to try and land some 7’s but didn’t succeed as I injured my ankle and back. I tried a few and almost had them but I know what I needed to do to land them as we did video analysis with our coach Ben Kinnear most nights. I started hitting the pro line on the last few days but hurt my back again so didn’t try anything.

I think this trip really helped my confidence on bigger jumps and my abilities in the pipe and on kickers whilst improving my overall riding performance.”  - Angus.

Here is a short video of me riding pipe, didn’t have much footage but this is what Ben got!

Saas Fee 2012

So just ended my first week in Saas Fee, it was so much fun and we were really lucky with the weather. The jumps were really nice and the pipe also. I have been working on bs/fs 7′s on the medium jumps and frontside sevens and backside 5′s in the pipe. On wednesday I overcooked a backflip and hurt my back so have been taking it easier the past two days but still managed to hit the first jump in the big line!

It has been good catching up and riding with my team mates (especially Matt McCormick)  and Ben and Hamish. We were learning new flips off the small kicker and I managed to get a front underflip 5 and some wildcats.

The weather is not looking to great but we will get a small edit up of us messing around in the park.

Cheers Angus
