Schools Race

Each year there is a Highland schools race in march, it is basically an excuse for the boarders to have a day off school shredding the gorm. Tomorow we are heading up for the second one so far should be a laugh, timed runs on a giant slalom course, team and individual event plus a day of park riding! Check last years edit , hopefully get some shots and post them. Peace.

Photo Shoot Cairngorm

On Wednesday, we were aksed to do a photo shoot on Cairngorm with Dan Milner. A crew from Quicksilver had been here all week and not managed to get up the hill due to weather, as they left country Dan stayed and we got some great weather. Sunshine, pow and park, probabely the best day on Cairngorm so far!!

We started off by searching for some pow and ended up hiking a pow hit, jumping off the traverse piste. Everyone rode well, me and Angus both landed clean backflips and threw out some fs spins as well. Andrew stomped the majority of tricks, unlike us, putting down a number of different spins and variations of grabs.

Next we headed over to the backcountry into Ciste Mhearad, Kerr McWilliam was already down there and had built a nice wee jump and Gus did some laid out backies and I landed a fs underflip 5 1st time and managed to get them on lock. Dan got us doing some slashes and then we decided to build a hip, in the wee bowl. It was actually a really fun hit, I got some backflip indys, backside 180 and some methods, while angus got a super clean tweaked nose grab. Andrew popped a couple of stylish shifties and Ed landed an nice wee backflip as well.

The 20 m/65 ft Kicker was then ready and after a couple of speed checks, despite the strenghting wind the session started. It was great fun and the fact we had a sled towing back to the top was awesome. I began testing out backside spins with 5s and 3s but as the run in was very rutted, I moved to frontsides and landed fs 3 indy nosebone, fs 5 mute and fs 7 mute. Was super happy and finally managed to get those fs 7 sorted! Ed banged out a number of stylish bs 1s and a couple of huge rodeo 5s for the cameras. Andy cleared the jump then decided against it, and shredded the rails with Angus. All in all was a good day and a really fun experience. Un fortunately the car broke down on the ski road down so we ended up gettin home around 6.30pm !

Cheers, Jamie.

Street Rails -

A few nights ago Me, Angus, Andrew and Calum were in Aviemore on a wee rail mission. Armed with a camera, our bungee and a couple of shovels we set out to find and shoot on handrail somewhere in the town. We found a spot with some decent rails where we were less likely to get busted and set up a kicker, had a good session and got some sweet photos thanks to Calum. Still got quite a bit of snow up here and will hopefully be out again soon. In the mean while check the photos -

Hill Closed. Kicker Shred?

Today the hill was closed due to constant heavy snowfall, it is looking alot more wintery now! We decided to meet up with Andrew Forwood and our friends the McWilliams and build a kicker at a local spot. Turned out alright, speed was an issue but the bungee was set up at the flat before the run in and the kicker was moved a bit to create a hip. Once the session got going, the boys threw down some rodeos, backflip, lincolns and all sorts of 360 variations on the old skis. Andrew and Angus put down a number of smooth 360s and also scraped  5 or two. I was fairly pleased getting a few fs 3 and 5s, as well as an fs underflip 5 which was my second ever. All in all a fun day and with any luck a snow day and a good urban rail shred.

Peace, Jamie.
